We should be proud of our flora and fauna and we need to protect it. The beautiful Chalk Hill Blue butterflies may seem abundant but a staggering 50% of the population has disappeared since 1970. The pasque flowers appear for a short period of time on the downs near Royston and are claimed as the county flower of both Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
